Road Smoothening to Continue over Lunar New Year Holiday
Mayor Hau Lung-bin announced that the Smooth Road Project will continue during the Lunar New Year holiday period in mid-February. The announcement, made after the city administration meeting on January 19, confirmed that the New Construction Office (NCO) will be working on Zhongshan N. Road Section 4 and Section 5.
Starting February 17 (the fourth day of Lunar New Year), the construction crew will begin working on the designated road sections – including all fast and slow lanes – spanning from Tonghe Street intersection to MRT Jiantan Station to Ming Chuan University.
According to the mayor, MRT Jiantan Station is an important traffic hub for Shilin and Beitou districts, while Zhongshan N. Road is the major artery connecting the downtown area with the northern districts of the city. To limit the impact on traffic, the city government decided to carry out renovations during Lunar New Year.
He expressed his gratitude to the workers who will be sacrificing their holidays and asked for the cooperation of local residents. As of today, the Smooth Road Project has completed the overhaul of 36 city roads. In 2010, the project will continue with the renovation of 64 more roads.
Construction work will take place between 9 PM February 17 and 2 PM February 21. NCO reminds residents that there will be adjustments to city buses traveling through this area. Details on service adjustments will be posted at the bus stands.
