Pop Star Jay Chou Composes New Flora Expo Theme Song
The publicity campaign for the upcoming 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo received another boost with the announcement of a music video featuring the new theme song “Hao Jiu Bu Jian” by Taiwanese pop artist Jay Chou on June 9.
During the press conference at Taipei Arena, Chou appeared on the stage with Mayor Hau Lung-bin and the Flora Expo Robot “Vanilla Baby.” The mayor expressed his gratitude to the artist for taking time to compose the theme song and produce the video.
According to the mayor, 45 nations, 86 cities, and 130 organizations from around the world will be taking part in the Flora Expo. He added that he is delighted to have Chou – who has recently made it to the list of the 100 most creative people in business – as a spokesperson for the Flora Expo.
The music video spotlighted numerous landmarks in Taipei City, including Taipei 101, Miramar Ferris Wheel, and MRT stations. To promote the event, the production crew filmed sections of the video at the Pavilion of New Fashion, Expo Hall, and the new venues inside Xinsheng Park.
A native Taipei-er, Chou remarked that he hopes viewers can share the feeling that “it’s great to grow up in Taipei City” after watching the video. He added that the watching the video is not enough and invited viewers to visit the city themselves.
The mayor presented a “Key of Honor” to Chou, thanking him for his effort. The two also introduced the one-and-only Flora Expo Robot “Vanilla Baby” to the audience. One of the stars in the music video, Vanilla Baby is capable of displaying a number of poses and movements. Chou remarked that the robot “looks cool” and joked about adding Vanilla Baby to his collection.
