Mayor Chiang Attended Groundbreaking Ceremony for Wiwynn Headquarters Building: Transforming Public Land into a New AI Landmark
Wiwynn Corporation—the superficiary of superficies on municipal lands including No. 35 and No. 35-1, Subsection 5, Tanmei Section, Neihu District—held a groundbreaking ceremony today(2. October) for the new headquarters building. The project was initiated by the Department of Finance (DOF) of Taipei City Government (TCG). Mayor Chiang Wan-an, accompanied by DOF Commissioner Hu Hsiao-lan, Commissioner of the Department of Economic Development Chen Chun-an , Commissioner of the Department of Information Technology Chao Shih-lung, joined with Wiwynn Chairperson Emily Hong and members of her executive team to turn the first sod, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in the project’s development. Mayor Chiang stated that Wiwynn, a frontrunner in the global trend of artificial intelligence (AI) development, has not only kept pace with market dynamics but also sustained its competitive edge in technology, R&D, and production capacity. By securing superficies rights on municipal land, Wiwynn has taken root in Neihu as its base in Taipei while extending its global reach. Upon completion, the headquarters is expected to attract top talent, create more employment opportunities, and reinforce industrial clustering, injecting new vitality into Taipei’s AI and high value-added industries. Mayor Chiang further noted that TCG is working to link 3 major hubs—Nangang, Neihu, and Beitou-Shilin to form the “Taipei Tech Cluster”, while providing enterprises with comprehensive support in area such as funding, talent, and market access. Concurrently, to enhance the living surroundings and the transportation infrastructure in Neihu, construction of the Circular Line East Section of the MRT commenced last year, and the 2nd Section Contract scheduled to begin by the end of 2025. These developments will improve Neihu’s accessibility and strengthen its integration within Taipei metropolitan area. Looking ahead, TCG will continue to promote investment and development opportunities, offering platforms for enterprises of all scales, and making Taipei a premier destination for business and innovation. Commissioner Hu Hsiao-lan added that Wiwynn’s new headquarters, located in the Neihu Technology Park, will comprise 8 floors and 4 basement levels. During the superficies term, the project’s annual rent of is expected to exceed NT$19 million. In addition to revitalizing public assets and enhancing fiscal sustainability, the project will further strengthen the local industrial chain, attract private-sector talent and technology, and enhance Neihu’s competitiveness within the AI sector. DOF will continue to leverage its professional expertise and efficiency in municipal land development, launching more forward-looking projects and inviting enterprises across various sectors to participate—working together to build a new vision for Taipei.
