Mayor Inspects Ongoing Preparations for Horticulture Expo

Mayor Hau Lung-bin toured major exhibition halls of the 2010 Taipei International Garden and Horticultural Expo on October 14. These venues are undergoing construction. He is satisfied with both the progress and the quality of building works.
Among the buildings, the EXPO Hall and the Pavilion of Aroma of Flowers were selected as the model construction site of the year. The Pavilion of Dreams, Pavilion of Future, and Pavilion of Life received the Green Building Label from the Ministry of the Interior.
He noted that with slightly over 380 days to go until the opening of the exposition, he is glad that the staff of Taipei City Government is hard at work to prepare for the major event. He said he is confident that the halls and pavilions will show the world the capabilities of Taiwan’s construction expertise.
Led by construction staff, the mayor arrived at the first stop – the EXPO Hall. The new building serves as one of the major performance venues of the expo, with seating for 1,200 people. Next, he visited the Pavilion of Aroma of Flowers. The hall, resembling a blooming flower, will house the expo souvenir shop. Finally, the mayor climbed to the roof of the Pavilion of the Future to view the surrounding landscape.
During the briefing session, New Construction Office Director Wu Chun-hsien reported that work on the parks commenced on December 30, 2008. The progress of construction is ahead of schedule – especially the Pavilion of Aroma of Flowers and EXPO Hall, which are both ahead by 30 percent.
