Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended a seminar and certificate presentation ceremony for sponsors of the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo (“Friends of Flora Expo”) on April 13. The group consists of 41 companies and enterprises. The mayor looks forward to seeing more companies and businesses joining the group in the next six months.
According to the mayor, organizing the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo requires close coordination between the public and private sectors. In addition to lauding the beauty of the flowers, promotion efforts will also focus on the City’s achievements in technology, environmental protection, creativity, and hospitality. He hopes that the event will offer local businesses a chance to market their products and innovations to a global audience.
The city government reported that it has sold over 2.8 million flora expo tickets as of today, reaching the 35-percent mark of the 8 million visitors expected throughout the expo period. Hau noted that in terms of pre-opening ticket sales, the flora expo has outsold other major international events such as 2005 Aichi Expo and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
The first wave of businesses and enterprises joining the rank of sponsors include cosmetics maker, retailers, real-estate companies, flower shops, and more. These “Friends of Flora Expo” possess over 1458 branch locations island-wide. Printed materials will be available at these locations starting April, offering information ranging from schedules to transportation.
The guide pamphlets will be available in five languages – traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean.
