In the company of former EasyCard Corporation head Sean Lien, Mayor Hau Lung-bin named Liu I-cheng the new chairperson of the company during a press conference on May 21.
Liu served as the executive vice president of Cathay Financial Holdings before taking his new position at EasyCard Corp.
The mayor remarked that Liu meets many of his expectations as the company’s head. He noted that with the company’s new portfolio in the electronic wallet business, the incoming chairperson will need a strong financial background to help the company interact with the central government’s Financial Supervisory Commission. With over 10 million EasyCard users, an understanding of consumer finance will also be a great advantage.
Furthermore, he prefers a young leader to be in charge of the vibrant company where the average age of employees is 32. Recommended by Lien, the mayor interviewed Liu and secured a nod from the candidate within an hour.
Liu said he is honored to have the opportunity to create a convenient lifestyle for residents. He stressed that taking over the leadership of EasyCard Corp is a new challenge and believes that the company will accomplish many things when staff members share a common vision and goal.
