To facilitate trash disposals for residents with busy schedules, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced that it will be extending the trash collection hours of 51 designated transfer stations around the city to 11 PM.
Starting July 20, the hours of 51 designated transfer stations in Taipei will run between 6 AM and 11 PM. For a complete list of the transfer stations, please visit the English website of DEP at: http://english.dep.taipei.gov.tw
According to DEP, Taipei City Government has implemented a number of waste management policies to ensure a quality living environment for residents, such as the per-bag garbage collection, kitchen waste recycling, and “Keep Trash off the Ground”. For residents who have difficulties meeting the garbage pickup schedule in their neighborhood, DEP reminds them to bring the trash directly to the transfer stations.
DEP warns residents against the unauthorized dumping of household wastes. Violators will be prosecuted and subjected to fines between NT$1,200 and NT$6,000.
Residents are encouraged to report illegal dumping to DEP. Those providing sufficient evidence (photo, video footage, details on time and place of violation, etc.) of the violation will be awarded 30-to-50 percent of the fine upon successful prosecution of the violator(s).
