[Discover Taipei] Exploring Lunar New Year Festivities in Taipei

Published by the Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT), the latest edition of English bi-monthly magazine Discover Taipei is available on January 8. Featuring the Lunar New Year festivities, the January-February publication contained information about what to eat, where to shop and other culture events worthy of exploration during the holiday.
This year’s first day of Lunar New Year falls on February 14, which happens to be the Valentine’s Day. TPEDOIT suggested those who want more lucks in love or marriage to make a trip to the Hiahai City God Temple on Dihua Street, where the God of Marriage will give blessings to the lovelorn souls.
Revelers who want to enjoy holiday shopping must not miss the chance to explore the local marketplaces. From the Lunar New Year Street Bazaar to all sorts of themed markets, shoppers could find all the goods they need for a festive Lunar New Year.
Other topics covered by the Lunar New Year special included calligraphy writing events, blessing ceremonies at local temples, spring couplet giveaway activities, a selection of health-improving hotpots and a tour of heritage sites at the Boai Special District.
