Mayor Visits Songshan Tzuyu Temple, Thanks Matsu for Deaflympics Success

Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin led a delegation consisting of staff members from the Organizing Committee of the 21st Summer Deaflympics and city officials on a visit to Songshan Tzuyu Temple on October 5.
He declared that the purpose of the visit was to thank the goddess Matsu and other deities for the successful games.
As the head representative of Taipei City Government, Hau placed fruits and fresh flowers on the offering table. He prayed to Matsu, thanking the goddess for bringing great weather on the night of the opening ceremony and allowing the games to progress smoothly.
In addition to expressing his gratitude to the gods, the mayor said he is equally grateful to city government staff for their contributions; the efforts of these unsung heroes helped to make the game a success.
The combined effort of all those involved won praises from the head of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), who proclaimed the 2009 Summer Deaflympics the best in the game’s history.
