Taipei City Leads Taiwan with 5% House Tax Incentives for Energy-Efficient Buildings New Policy in 2026, Partnering with Citizens to Build a Net-Zero City
To fulfill the "2050 Net-Zero Taipei" commitment, Taipei City Government (TCG) convened the 2026 Real Estate Appraisal Committee on December 12, 2025. The committee approved a new policy effective on July 1, 2026, that buildings obtained a Level 1 or higher Building Energy-Efficiency Rating for the first time will receive a 5% reduction in the standard unit price of buildings. This initiative aims to drive net-zero emissions and demonstrates TCG's commitment to the global climate and environment. Hu Hsiao-lan, Commissioner of the Department of Finance (DOF), stated that as global climate change and environmental issues intensify, many countries are actively promoting energy conservation and carbon reduction.
