Invest, Innovate, Impact: Taipei Sets the Stage for Global Startups at InnoVEX 2025

To strengthen global startup collaboration, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Economic Development (DOED) established the Taipei Entrepreneurs Hub (TEH), a vibrant international community for entrepreneurs.

On May 20, during InnoVEX 2025—Asia’s leading innovation and technology exhibition held alongside COMPUTEX Taipei—TEH hosted the “2025 Invest and Start a Business in TAIPEI” forum. This year’s InnoVEX drew nearly 450 startups from 24 countries, underscoring its reputation as Asia’s top innovation platform.

The forum featured four international startups in the AI and ESG sectors: Japan’s ASUENE (a Sony-backed carbon calculation platform), Nota AI, Thailand’s MUI Robotics (an AI-driven olfactory digitization startup recommended by depa), and Japan’s Hutzper Inc. (a manufacturing digital transformation pioneer). They shared their motivations and experiences expanding into Taipei.

A key highlight was the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between TEH and Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), paving the way for cross-sector collaboration, ecosystem exchange, and shared investment insights to accelerate startup growth. Dr. Warin Ratchananusorn, depa’s representative, attended in person, demonstrating Thailand’s strong commitment to advancing digital innovation and startups.

Deputy Commissioner Wu Hsin-pei of the DOED emphasized: “With advanced infrastructure, a safe and inclusive environment, and a cutting-edge tech ecosystem in AI, semiconductors, and green energy, Taipei is the ideal destination for global entrepreneurs.” This reflects Taipei’s ambition to establish itself as a global AI and technology innovation hub.

The forum also featured Jason Lu, Investment Director at Darwin Venture Management, who shared insights into Taipei’s investment landscape, and Daniel Ha, Project Manager at Talent Taiwan, who introduced resources such as the Taiwan Employment Gold Card to attract international talent.

Additionally, Taipei Startup Hub will host a presentation on Taipei’s startup ecosystem at TIPS Town during Seoul Next Rise, South Korea’s largest technology week, on June 26. The event aims to attract more AI companies from South Korea to establish and expand their presence in Taipei.

Moreover, the DOED spotlighted the AI+ Taipei Startup Pitch Contest, offering international startups the chance to showcase their innovations and connect with potential investors and partners in Taipei. Six winning startups will be invited to Taipei to pitch on stage. Applications are open until June 30 — apply now for your chance to join!
