Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of the Palais de Chine Hotel on May 23.
The Palais de Chine Hotel spans the upper floors of Taipei Bus Station – the City’s bus terminal station. An estimated 100,000 passengers – both local residents and international visitors – travel through the complex everyday.
Hau pointed out that the five-star hotel boasts outstanding customer service and extravagant interior decorations. These features are sure to make good impression on all the visitors staying at the hotel.
Speaking before the audience, Hau indicated that the number of tourists visiting Taipei during the first quarter of 2010 went up by 28 percent. In addition, the City’s hotel enterprise outshines its peers from other municipalities, in terms of occupancy rate and business revenue. The mayor attributed these achievements to the hard work of the members of Taipei’s travel industry.
Hau also outlined the city government’s “National Gateway” project, which focuses on the vicinity around Taipei Main Station. Following the connection of the main complexes located in the area, including the Taipei Main Station, the C1/D1 (Taipei Twin Tower) and the souvenir shopping center, the neighborhood will become a multifunctional commercial district. The development project comes with a price tag of approximately NT$357,000,000.
