Mayor Attends 'Au Revoir Taipei' Premiere
Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the local première of Au Revoir Taipei at the Ambassador Theater inside Breeze Center on April 1. He noted that the movie is successful at promoting the tourist attractions in Taipei City and the local lifestyle to viewers around the world. Hau arrived at the red carpet screening in the company of actress Amber Kuo. Kuo played the leading female role in the film. The mayor said he is very excited to attend the local premiere of Au Revoir Taipei, even going as far as cancelling his trip abroad for the occasion. He praised the movie staff for bringing home a number of awards – including a win at the Berlin International Film Festival – and for reaching numerous distribution deals around the world. He recalled visiting Shida night market with Kuo and actor Jack Yao several days ago. The beef noodles, oyster omelet, and other great-tasting snacks brought back vivid memories of his student life. He cited scenes from the movie – especially the scenes shot at the 24-hour bookstore and the Daan Forest Park – as instrumental in bringing the life of Taipei residents to movie theaters around the world. In light of recent blockbusters such as Au Revoir Taipei and Monga, Hau remarked that the success of these movies help to boost local economy and tourism. He hopes that after watching these exciting films, moviegoers can take time to visit the places that appear in the movies.
