Rotary International Donates Gears to Care-giving Institutions

To strengthen the City’s capabilities in care-giving, District 3520 of Rotary International donated a number of positioning cushions to the Department of Social Welfare (DOSW) and its contracted agencies.
Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the donation ceremony on December 3. He praised Rotary International for taking on an active role in promoting the public welfare.
The mayor presented a certificate of gratitude to the members of District 3520, thanking them for their longtime support of city-sponsored events and city policies. Rotary International contributed 5,000 volunteers during the 2009 Summer Deaflympics in Taipei.
The members of District 3520 presented the 100-plus positioning cushions to DOSW. The gears will in turn be donated to 19 contracted care-giving and medical institutions, enhancing their capabilities to provide services to individuals requiring mobility assistance.
Hau noted that with the help of these new equipments, caregivers will be able to lessen the likeliness of accidently harming elders or individuals with mobility problems when trying to move or reposition them.
