City Subsidizes Childcare Facilities at Workplaces
On July 1, Commissioner Chen Yeh-shin of the City’s Department of Labor (DOL) led the “Workplace Nursery Advisory Group” on a visit to Wei Chuan Corporation. The group received an update on the company’s childcare service and provided company leaders with information on childcare subsidies provided by the government.
During his address, Chen introduced the subsidy incentives available for business and enterprise offering childcare program for employees. He hopes that the company will help spread the news about the policy to its peers in the private sector.
The Wei Chuan Corporation recently renewed its contract with a licensed day care center near its office. Parents working at the company enjoy a special discount for enrolling their toddlers at the contracted centers. The enterprise also established a lactation room inside its office building, ensuring a comfortable and private space for breastfeeding mothers.
Chen stressed that lifting the birth rate is one of the top priorities of the city administration.
He reiterated that registered companies in the city are eligible to apply for the child care subsidies. The package includes NT$2.15million for newly established childcare facilities, NT$1.55 million on renovation of existing facilities, and NT$320,000 for implementing childcare-related measures.
