According to the latest information from the Central Weather Administration (CWA), Typhoon Bavi, the ninth named storm of this year, strengthened into a moderate typhoon early this morning (July 3). As current sea surface temperatures and atmospheric conditions remain favorable for further development, the storm may continue to intensify and could potentially reach strong typhoon status. The Taipei City Fire Department urges all residents to remain vigilant and complete all necessary typhoon preparedness measures before severe weather arrives to help safeguard lives and property.

The Fire Department encourages residents to make full use of this weekend to prepare for the approaching typhoon. Secure or bring indoors loose objects such as potted plants, signs, and other items on balconies. Clear drainage outlets on balconies, rooftops, and nearby gutters to prevent flooding caused by blocked drains. Residents living in low-lying areas are advised to prepare sandbags in advance and ensure that flood barriers or flood gates are functioning properly. Emergency go-bags should include at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food and drinking water, and residents should also check that flashlights, portable power banks, and other emergency lighting and communication devices are fully operational in case of power outages.
