Piano Prodigy Holds Solo Concert at National Concert Hall
On August 3, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended a special piano concert at the National Concert Hall. The spotlight centered on a 13-year-old Taipei-born pianist Hsu Yun-chih. Hsu is currently enrolled at the Julliard School in New York. Hsu is also the youngest pianist to hold a solo concert at the prestigious venue.
The mayor, accompanied by his wife, presented the young musician with a flower bouquet at the autograph session after the concert, wishing her great success in her music career.
Hsu’s mother invited the mayor to her daughter’s concert by leaving a message on the mayor’s facebook.
Hau remarked that Hsu’s parents are very supportive of their daughter’s interest, giving her free rein to explore her musical potentials. This shows that children will find their own “paths” if given enough room and freedom by their parents.
Hsu Yun-Chih was born in Taipei City in 1997. The young pianist received a full scholarship from the prestigious Julliard School in 2008. Hsu has an amazing track record despite her young age, having won a number of important competitions such as the 12th International Taipei Chopin Piano Competition and the Julliard School’s Mozart Piano Concerto Competition.
She also took part in a concert tour in Italy last year, winning favorable responses from professors at Italian musical institutions.
