Local Dengue Fever Cases Has Been Seen in Taipei City - The Department of Health Urges Citizens to Increase the Efforts on Removing Vector Breeding Sources The Centers for Disease Control, (R.O.C.) Taiwan, announced on August 22nd, that the first local Dengue Fever case, this year, has been found in Taipei. The Department of Health, Taipei City Government immediately begun an epidemic investigation and related prevention efforts after receiving the report, it investigated took blood samples from people that have been in close contact and people living in or around the area. The Department of Health, Taipei City Government has conducted vector investigations in the areas where each case has traveled to, this included Chongren Road, Dengshan Road, Wenquan Road, and Zhoumei Street, the Vector Indicator was level 0-1, the Department of Environmental Protection, Taipei City Government clean team has completed outdoor spraying control, the District Office also brought the neighborhood together to eradicate breeding sources. Global warming has caused vector breeding to be worse than previous years. Rainfall has been quite frequent of late, the Department of Health, Taipei City Government urges the public to monitor the outdoor and indoor areas of houses and proactively remove containers which can accumulate water which becomes a source of breeding, and increase the protection against being bitten by bugs or mosquitoes, in order to effectively prevent Dengue Fever, and maintain the family and our own health. At the same time, all large medical institutes to report any patients with suspicious symptoms such as fevers or rashes within 24 hours to the Department of Health, Taipei City Government, and obtain samples for examination.
