During his appearance at the fundraising auction spotlighting tennis star Lu Yen-hsun’s limited version EasyCard on August 6, Mayor Hau Lung-bin praised the past directors of the EasyCard Corporation for their contributions in making the smart card a part of the daily life of Taipei residents.
Five limited version EasyCards were put up for auction, attracting bids ranging from NT$160,000 to NT$250,000. At the end of the event, the five cards were sold for approximately NT$1 million dollars. All the money raised would go to a fund used to cover Lu’s training and tournament costs.
Lu made it into the top eight at this year’s Wimbledon tournament and is currently competing in a tournament in Toronto. Lu’s elder brother attended the event in his stead, and expressed his gratitude to the mayor and EasyCard Corporation for their backing.
According to EasyCard Corporation, 300 sets of Lu Yen-hsun EasyCard will be released. For a donation of NT$1,000, you can pick up the set – containing two cards – and support the young athlete in his endeavors.
The event also celebrated the issuing of the 20-millionth EasyCard. EasyCard Corpo Chairman Liu I-cheng, as well as several of his predecessors such as Sean Lien and Ou Chin-der, appeared at the auction to celebrate the company’s landmark achievement.
Ou, who is the current Chairman of Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation, promised that EasyCards will be accepted by the high speed railway beginning next year.
