Datong and Shilin District Offices Organize Weekend Hiking Trip
Datong District Office is collaborating with Shilin District Office to organize a hiking trip at Jiantan Mountain on March 27.
According to Shilin District Office Director Chang I-fang, the purpose for holding the event is to implement the “Health City” initiative through sponsoring outdoor recreational activities and to raise public awareness on environmental issues.
The Jiantan Mountain Hiking Trail is located in the western part of the Wuzhi Mountain Range. The trail passes through thriving greens and features an ascending staircase described by some as a “green tunnel”.
The 3-kilometer trail ensures individuals of all age groups get a good workout while letting them enjoy scenic views of the Keelung River during the climb.
The activity is free and does not require registration beforehand. Participants completing the trip will receive souvenirs.
Individuals who want to join the hike should arrive at Exit 2 of the MRT Jiantan Station at 8AM. The event will begin at 8:30AM. The trip will include a quick stopover at the entrance of Jiantan Park for hikers to pick up bottled water and towels before heading to the pavilion on top of the mountain. The group will then proceed down the trail and return to MRT Jiantan Station.
The organizers invite everyone to come and enjoy a relaxing excursion in Jiantan.
