[2010 Taipei Intl Flora Expo] Chunghwa Telecom to Provide Mobile Guide Services

Taipei City Government and Chunghwa Telecom held a joint press conference on December 21 to announce that the two will be joining hands at the upcoming 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition. The telecom giant will be setting up and maintaining the information and mobile guide services for the expo.
Speaking before the audience, Mayor Hau Lung-bin stressed that the flower expo is not only about top-notch horticultural products; it is also a place for displaying the achievements in the fields of technology, environmental protection, and culture.
He pointed out that with the help of the technical teams from Chunghwa Telecom, visitors at the expo will be able to access mobile guides and information via their cell phones.
Accompanied by Chunghwa Telecom President Lu Shyue-ching, the mayor tried out the postcard printing service at a multimedia kiosk and tested the mobile guide system, which utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bluetooth technology to deliver images and audio commentaries to his cell phone.
The mayor expressed his gratitude to the company for the assistance. Hau believes that the partnership with Chunghwa Telecom is only the beginning and will help to encourage other private firms to work with the government to make the expo a success.
According to the Promotions and Marketing Center of the Taipei International Flora Expo, Chunghwa Telecom will set up fiber optics and wireless connection and provide mobile guide, audio guide, information kiosks, and other equipments during the period of the expo. The company will also establish the expo’s multimedia and administration portal website.
