The 2010 Outstanding Nurse Award Ceremony of Taipei City Hospital

To celebrate the international nurse day on May 12, Taipei City Hospital held a serious activities such as the outstanding nurse award ceremony, singing competition, manicure and mouth cavity care seminar for those all year round 24 hour shift nurses－the white dress angels. Director Chiu Wen-Hsiang Department of Health, Taipei City Government, personally presided and conferred awards to the recipients. He lauded the impeccable care service rendered by the nurses and assistant nurses who work like Sister Teresa and bring love to the patients.

There were 52 recipients of the outstanding nurse award. There are Ms Yang Mei-Yu of He Ping Branch who assisted many patients with dialysis to rebuild their confidence, and assisted patients to apply for social welfare to continue their treatment; Ms. Chen Yue-Er of Yang Ming Branch who liaised the care station with the hospital to enhance care service quality, applied subsidy for patients to buy supporting equipment and referred them to other long term care station to reduce their financial burden; Ms Yu Yu-Mei of Yang Ming Branch who timely assessed the condition of .the patient and diagnosed unusual phenomenon and offered care to them. Besides she shared with patients her experience in fighting against cancer to encourage them to regain courage; Ms Du Hui-Ting of Song De Branch, who discovered feeble moaning from men’s room and found out the patient had swallowed towel, immediately called for assistance and applied resuscitation to save his life successfully; Ms Kao Bao-Gui of He Ping Branch who is very skillful in nursing care and helped train new recruits without reservation; her performance and attitude of service are most commendable. All the achievement of these award recipients illustrated the spirit of service and attitude of service of the hospital.

In addition, to enhance the morale of nursing staff, develop proper entertainment and cultivate esprit de corps, the hospital launched singing contest and cheerleader contest. The judges for singing contest are Wang Wei, Hu Hui-Lin and Tong Nian-Rong; the winners in order are Chang Xiu-Yin of Song De Branch, Huang Li-Qing of Zhong Xiao Branch and Lou Wand-Ling of Zhong Xing Branch; the judges for cheerleader contest are Wang Ping, Wang Zu-Qi and Yu Ke-Hong; the winners in order are Song De Branch, Ren Ai Branch and Zhong Xing Branch. The fact that Song De Branch won double champions was quite an encouragement to their staff who were determined to redouble their efforts in care service so that they would be able to achieve the goal of the most outstanding performance.
