Newlyweds Take MRT to Wedding
To promote the convenience of Taipei’s mass transit system and to contribute to the reduction of carbon gas emission, a pair of newlyweds surnamed Wang and Lin took the MRT to their wedding banquet on April 24.
Accompanying the couple, Mayor Hau Lung-bin remarked that he is really moved by the newlywed’s support for city policies. He also pointed out that the couple has also signed up for the Department of Civil Affairs’ (DCA) special award honoring wedding banquets with prompt starts.
Wang and Lin pointed out that the venue of their wedding banquet is located next to the MRT Jiannan Road Station, so the easiest way for them to get to the venue is to take the MRT. If they took the car to the banquet, they would be tied down by traffic lights and would have wasted time looking for parking spaces. They also encouraged their guests to take the MRT by printing the message on their wedding invitations.
Hau noted that this is the first incident of newlyweds taking the MRT to their banquet. He praised the young couple for their innovation and creativity. He also thanked them for their support of the MRT Wenshan-Neihu Line and the prompt wedding banquet award organized by DCA.
In addition to wishing them a happy married life, the mayor also presented the newlyweds with two EasyCards bearing their wedding photo.
