TPEDOIT Embarks on Flora Expo Promotion Campaign in Singapore
The Department of Information and Tourism (TPEDOIT) will be carrying out a promotion campaign for the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo in Singapore between August 25 and 29.
According to the statistics from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Tourism Bureau, a total of 194,523 Singaporeans visited Taiwan in the year 2009. The drop of nearly 5.32 percent – compared to the same period in 2008 – was likely due to factors such as H1N1 and the global financial downturn.
However, the number of Singaporean tourists bounced back between January and June of this year, rising 25.8 percent compared to the same period in 2009. TPEDOIT noted that with their potentially high spending power, Singaporeans accounts for a major source of income for the local tourism industry.
The focus of the promotion campaign this week will be on the NATAS Fair 2010, a major travel show in Singapore slated for August 27 through 29. TPEDOIT has prepared the newest Flora Expo brochures and souvenirs, as well as information on major tourist spots in Taipei.
To promote the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo, TPEDOIT has staged similar campaigns at major cities around the world, including Berlin, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, Shikoku, Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, and Beijing. The agency has also scheduled events for Malaysia, Pusan, Macau, and other cities later in the year.
