Donations of Antiques Welcome, Invitation to the Joint Efforts of Preservation of Cultural Heritage
Some households have kept sewing machines and dressing tables that our Grandmothers have used, as well as historic Chinese textbooks from our Grandfathers, but have to abandon these antiques since there is no room to preserve them. These antiques, though no longer useful in their original purposes, are valuable to our cultural heritage and ought to be preserved properly. The Taipei City Archives is a government agency responsible for the preservation of cultural and historic relics, and is dedicated to promoting the preservation of our cultural heritage. To enrich our archives, we welcome all citizens to donate relics handed down from ancestors such as antique furniture, agricultural tools, old books or old pictures, especially those related to the development history of Taipei City. After evaluating the feasibility of preservation, Taipei City Archives will list the donated relics in the permanent archive and issue an acknowledgement to the donors. The Taipei City Archives will display the relics in relevant future exhibitions so that the general public will have an opportunity to appreciate the original relics, and our future generations may familiarize themselves with the heritage, kindness, and wisdom of our forefathers.
For more details about donating, please contact our researcher Mr. Lin at 02-25564966 ext. 23.
