The Xinyi District Office (XYDO) will be holding sky lantern DIY lessons on March 6 at the Xinyi Public Assembly Hall. Between 9 AM and 11:30 AM, there will be free lessons teaching you how to make sky lanterns at assembly hall’s Community House (House D).
District Director Yu Shin-hua remarked that the purpose of the event is to welcome the New Year and to promote traditional culture, as well as strengthening the exchange between municipalities. She hopes that residents will take advantage of this great opportunity to experience the charms of Pingxi sky lanterns.
The event includes DIY classes for the entire family, a sky lantern exhibition, and videos of the actual sky lantern festival at the town of Pingxi. Sky lantern artisans from Pingxi Farmers’ Association will be at the scene to offer instructions to the students.
In addition, XYDO will prepare an assortment of candies, biscuits, and local specialties of Pingxi for participants, allowing them to satisfy their taste buds while they work on their lanterns. The quintet from Boai Elementary School – the winners of the bronze medal at the city’s student music competition – will also perform at the occasion.
