Mayor Thanks Pharmacists for Promoting Health Education
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended a banquet organized by the Taipei Pharmacist Association (TPA) on April 25.
Speaking before the members of the organization, Hau congratulated Sung Te-ming for winning the reelection bid for the association's presidency. He also noted that pharmacists are the front line workers who play an important role in implementing health education program at local communities. On behalf of the residents, the mayor thanked the medical professionals for their services.
Founded in 1953, TPA comprises nearly 800 members today. According to TPA officials, the organization was rated “excellent” by an evaluation conducted by the city government in 2009, under the category of “Taipei City Freelance Organizations – Group 2”. They cited the association’s active involvement in social services and business expansion as major factors.
Sung noted that recent surveys indicate a high approval rating for the medical/health programs implemented by Hau’s administration. He looks forward to the continuation of the successful partnership between the city administration and TPA members.
Dignitaries attended the event included Legislator Lin Yu-fang, Taipei City Councilors Wu Chih-kang, Wang Cheng-ter, Lin Chin-chang, Lin Yi-hua , Lee Wen-Ying, and Chou Po-Ya .
