Teachers and students from 16 senior high schools in Taiwan arrived at the Shanghai World Exposition’s Taipei Pavilion on July 20. The staff members of Taipei Pavilion greeted the delegation from home with a ceremony at the entrance plaza, presenting the visitors with “Reservation Passes”. According to pavilion officials, reservation pass holders can enter selected exhibition halls in the Best Urban Practice Area – including the London Pavilion, the Madrid Pavilion, the Pavilion of Future, and more – through the special gates for guests with reservations. In addition, Taipei Arts Promotion Association also offered the students tickets to the City Window theater, giving them great opportunities to enjoy arts performances during their stay in Shanghai. Accompanied by the receptionists of Taipei Pavilion, the 240 students from Jingmei Girls High School, Zhongshan Girls High School, and Chenggong High School embarked on a half-day tour at the western part of the expo park. The group visited the Vanke Pavilion, the Pavilion of Future, the London Pavilion, the Madrid Pavilion, and the Pavilion of Footprint. All of these pavilions share a common theme with Taipei Pavilion – promoting low carbon cities and the conservation of energy. Speaking to the students, Pavilion Curator Chen Ching-an expressed his hope that they will realize Taipei’s achievements in the fields of wireless broadband network and waste recycling area are at a leading international level. He also asked the young visitors to learn from other advanced cities and use the knowledge they have obtained to make Taipei a better place.
