Mayor Attends Women’s Day Celebration
The concert marking the centennial anniversary of International Women’s Day took place at Taipei Arena in the evening of March 7. To show his support, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the event and spoke with guest at other parts of the world via videoconferencing.
Through the video conference system, the mayor joined pop music diva Wang Chih-lei – who currently resides in the United States – on stage and joined her in singing her well-known hit “The Sky over Taipei”.
Hau also chatted with Vanessa Shih, the head of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, via video conferencing. In addition to wishing the women in Singapore a “Happy Women’s Day”, the mayor invited Shih and all Singaporeans to visit Taipei during the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition. Shih promised that she will do her best to promote the flower expo to the friends in Singapore.
The evening concert was hosted by TV host Hsu Nai-lin and DaAi TV anchorwoman Yeh Shu-shan. Performers appearing at the event include Lin Feng, Yang Pei-an, and various well-known singers. The organizers also played video trailers featuring the stories of Taiwanese women who help others give back to the society.
