A 39-Year Journey of Companionship – Meng Tsung Chin Listener Gathering Concludes on a Heartfelt Note From the Airwaves to the Stage, Memories Shared and Voices Reunited
On May 17, Taipei Broadcasting Station (TBS) hosted a special event titled “Waves of Emotion, Voice of Warmth: Meng Tsung Chin Listener Gathering,” inviting long-time listeners to come and meet host Meng Tsung Chin face-to-face. The event concluded in a warm and moving atmosphere. With a full house and lively participation, the gathering blended music and memory, allowing attendees to relive the beauty of Dream Garden. Dream Garden has been on air since 1987, accompanying listeners for 39 remarkable years. The gathering began with a keynote speech by Meng Tsung Chin, themed “Live Your Dreams, Walk with Purpose,” in which he drew from decades of broadcasting and life experience to reflect on personal growth and decision-making through different stages of life. Following the talk, Meng Tsung Chin was joined on stage by his older brother Meng Chun Chin and musician Jia-Ching Lai for a rare and emotionally resonant musical performance. Timeless songs like “Love Me Tender,” “Bāng-tshun-hong (Longing for the Spring Breeze),” and “At Least I’ve Got You” filled the room, instantly evoking deep nostalgia among the audience. The heartfelt harmonies and rich instrumentation between the brothers symbolized the enduring emotional thread behind Dream Garden. With live guitar and piano performances, the concert reached a touching climax—applause filled the hall, and many in the audience were moved to tears by the familiar melodies and shared memories. In the final interactive segment, Meng Tsung Chin invited listeners to share personal stories of how Dream Garden has accompanied them through life’s ups and downs. One participant spoke of finding comfort during difficult times, while another shared how the program was a voice of home while living abroad. The room was filled with both laughter and heartfelt emotion, reflecting the deep connection between the program and its audience. Taipei Broadcasting Station Director Shao-Chien Hu remarked that Meng Tsung Chin and Dream Garden represent a quiet yet enduring form of companionship. The enthusiastic turnout reflects the continued emotional resonance and value of radio in the digital age. He hopes such in-person gatherings will deepen engagement with listeners and continue to spread the warmth and strength that only radio can deliver.
