In order to raise public disaster prevention awareness and enhance community disaster response capabilities, the 4th District HQs of Taipei City Fire Department partnered with Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store in Shilin District for its "Little Firefighter Experience" to hold the "Shilin District Community Disaster Prevention Fair." By integrating disaster prevention education into everyday commercial life, children and adults were invited to learn disaster prevention knowledge while shopping, participating in activities, and completing interactive challenges.

The fire department stated that the event was themed "Shop with Peace of Mind, GO for Disaster Prevention!" It was held in conjunction with Shin Kong Mitsukoshi's "Little Firefighter Experience" activity, leveraging the crowded commercial area and high participation from local families to allow citizens to easily acquire disaster prevention knowledge while enjoying shopping, leisure, and quality family time. Through educational and interactive experiences, disaster prevention education is woven into daily life, strengthening citizens' self-help, mutual help, and public cooperation capabilities, while building a universal consensus on disaster prevention to jointly create a safe and resilient living environment.

The event featured a variety of disaster prevention experience booths, including CPR and AED operation training, residential fire alarm promotion, residential fire safety, electricity, cooking fire, and gas safety education, water safety guidance, and emergency reporting practice. Additionally, participants used the Fire Safety Demonstration Vehicle to practice initial fire suppression and experienced the Earthquake Simulator Vehicle to learn earthquake evacuation techniques. Through hands-on operation and scenario simulation, participants gained disaster prevention knowledge and response skills, further enhancing their self-protection abilities and disaster response concepts.

The fire department pointed out that Shilin District is a major commercial, educational, and tourist hub in Taipei City, with a high density of department stores, commercial districts, markets, schools, and residential communities, attracting large crowds on both weekdays and weekends. Therefore, public venue fire safety and community disaster prevention are particularly vital. Beyond commercial venues implementing strict fire safety management, citizens should also establish correct home fire prevention and emergency response concepts, preparing for disasters in advance to effectively reduce losses when disasters occur and jointly protect lives and property.

According to the fire department's 2025 fire statistics, electrical factors were the leading cause of fires. The fire department reminds the public to adhere to the "5 No's and 1 Must-Have" principle when using electrical appliances and extension cords: "No overloading, No bundling wires, No keeping plugged in when not in use, No dirty or damaged plugs, No flammable materials around appliances, and Must-Have a safety certification label." Citizens should also regularly inspect home electrical equipment and wiring conditions, replacing old or damaged items immediately to reduce the risk of fire.

The firedepartment emphasized that disaster prevention relies on joint efforts between the government and local communities; more preparation during normal times leads to fewer losses during disasters. In the future, the department will continue to combine community resources and local characteristic activities to promote disaster prevention education, deepen public risk awareness and response capabilities, and work together to build a safe, livable, and resilient living environment.
