Taking into account that the southern Taiwan still suffered from the great losses caused by Typhoon Morakot, the city government has canceled or postponed several Moon Festival celebrations this year.
Instead of holding festivities in the Taipei City, the Songshan Fengtien Temple and the Jiaoxiu Temple will jointly organize the Moon Festival party in the hard-hit Linbian Township of the Pingtung County.
During the city administration meeting on September 29, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin announced that he will attend the party at the Linbian venue; moreover, the city has prepared 6,700 boxes of moon cake assortments to give away to the local residents.
Hau expressed his gratitude to singer Pai Ping-ping for her acting as the host of the activity. The mayor stressed that the city government treated Linbian Township as one of Taipei’s administrative districts.
After carrying out the two-month-long relief efforts, the two sides have developed a strong feeling of brotherhood. Hau also reiterated that the city government will continue to support the rebuilding of Linbian Township.
