Mayor Attends Award Ceremony Marking International Nurses Day
To commemorate International Nurses Day (IND), an award ceremony honoring outstanding nurses took place at the conference room of CPC Corporation Building on May 11.
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin appeared at the event to pay tribute to the community of nursing professionals for their contributions. He presented the awards to 118 recipients and addressed the audience during the ceremony.
Hau remarked that the caregivers play an important role in ensuring the well-being of Taipei residents. Thanks to these nurses, the city has won a reputation for offering high-quality medical services.
According to the International Council of Nursing (ICN), the celebration this year highlights the following theme: “Serving Communities: Nurses Leading Chronic Care”. Hau indicated that the ICN’s initiative to offer better care for patients suffering from chronic diseases shares the same objective with the health policies pursued by the city government. He cited the Taipei Telecare Program and the Health Consultation Initiative as the City’s effort to help people control and prevent the chronic disorders.
The mayor thanked the nurses for their profound contribution to the society and reminded them not to overwork themselves, because a healthy body is necessary for taking on the challenging duties of nursing care.
