H1N1 Vaccination Begins for Middle School Students

Middle school students across Taipei City began receiving swine flu (H1N1) shots on November 23. Mayor Hau Lung-bin arrived at Jan Cheng Junior High School to inspect the progress of flu shot administration for the students.
The mayor chatted with the students as soon as he arrived at the site where the medical staff administrated flu vaccination. He noted that the students receiving the shots and those waiting in line appeared relaxed and calm.
The mayor noted that the kids are mature enough to understand the necessity of vaccination. The positive feedbacks from elementary schools, where vaccinations began earlier, convinced the parents of the older students to grant permission for their children to receive flu shots.
The City’s mass vaccination program began with elementary school students on November 16. As of November 18, 22,706 individuals received swine flu shots, bringing the rate of inoculation to 78.38 percent.
