Flower-watching Season Begins on February 26

The 31-day-long Yangmingshan Flower Festival will take place between February 26 and March 28. According to the Parks and Street Lights Office (PSLO), a series of activities and performances will offer additional enjoyments for tourists visiting Yangmingshan this season.

For the opening event, PSLO will hold a painting session, inviting over 100 participants from local elementary and junior high schools. The participants will draw their New Year wishes on individual canvases. Their works will be combined to form a large-scale painting called “Wall of Hope.” The final art piece will signify a flourishing start for both the festival and the New Year.

During the flower festival, a LOMO photo exhibition featuring shots of Yangmingshan's many “faces” will be held at Yangmingshan National Park 's “Xin Hai Guang Fu” building. There will be martial arts and lion dance performances, concerts, puppet shows, DIY sessions, and Chinese painting giveaways as well.

To avoid traffic jams and to help protect the beautiful landscape, PSLO encourages the public to take public transportation and refrain from littering or picking flowers during their visit.
