A group wedding sponsored by Taipei City Government took place at Taipei Stadium on October 25. Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin congratulated the newly weds on the fine day, wishing them joy and happiness.
The mayor shared his experience from 30-plus years of married life with the participants. He noted that the responsibility of the husband includes mutual trust, mutual understanding, tolerance, and patience.
He also reminded the husbands to bring a shopping bag when they accompany their wives on shopping trips, hoping that they will take the extra step to help Taipei’s environmental protection policy by reducing waste.
In addition, Hau encouraged the couples to have more kids. He pointed out that the city is seeing a gradual decrease of population over the years and promised that the city will provide incentives for newborns. For those couples who have babies within a year, he guaranteed that the city government will offer extra rewards.
The city government invited songwriter and singer Rachel Kar to compose an original theme song for the event. She appeared on stage at the group wedding and performed the song, wishing the newly weds the best.
