Taipei Water Festival Kicks Off with a Loud Splash!

Standing on the stage as kids enjoy themselves in the icy-cold pools by splashing water onto each other, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin announced the beginning of the 2009 Taipei Water Festival at the Taipei Water Park on July 11.
The mayor noted that since the opening of the Taipei Water Park, the facility has become one of the most popular places for parents to bring their children. The waterslides, pools, and other equipments put the water park on the list of great places for entire families to escape the blazing sun and enjoy “soaked” fun.
As one of the major attractions in Taipei City during summertime, park authority reported that Taipei Water Park attracted over 600,000 visitors in 2008. The mayor stressed that he is very confident the number of visitors will exceed 800,000 this year.
Hau invited parents to bring their children to the park. The water park is not only a place for kids to enjoy themselves in giant pools; the water museum inside the park is also an education center to teach kids about important values related with environmental protection and water conservation.
He added that in the future, the water park will be connected with surrounded facilities including Treasure Hill, bike lanes, and the planned Hakka Culture Park.
The 2009 Taipei Water Festival runs now through August 31 at the Taipei Water Park.
