Mayor Promotes Right of Way at Drivers Union Labor Day Ceremony
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the Labor Day Ceremony organized by the Taipei City Professional Drivers Union on April 28. In addition to thanking them for helping the City improve traffic conditions, he also called on the drivers to support its latest traffic safety campaign by giving pedestrians the right of way.
The mayor cited the success of the traffic safety campaign carried out during the period of the 2009 Summer Deaflympics as an example of where their willingness to support the policy makes a big difference. According to the mayor, the campaign’s success contributed to the overall successful of the games.
He also expressed his hope that in the future, “pedestrian’s right of way” will be an important aspect that defines this city – a unique ‘trait’ similar to Taipei’s MRT culture.
