City Honors Outstanding Business Districts

Mayor Hau Lung-bin awarded the certification to representatives from commercial districts during a ceremony on December 14. The certification marked the districts for meeting the strict criteria established by the Taipei City Office of Commerce (TCOOC).

Hau encouraged the recipients to take pride in their work, because the certification is not easily granted. By offering tourists from around the world a safe and pleasant shopping environment, these business districts serve as role models for their peers in Taipei.

The mayor remarked that compared to their counterparts across the nation, Taipei’s specialty commercial districts are truly distinct – especially for those specialized in 3C products, wedding garments, delicacies, and attires. Through the certification system, the city government hopes to provide consumers with information on venues where they can shop and have fun without safety concerns.

According to Hau, 18 commercial districts competed in the first round; 12 made it to the shortlist. During the final round, a jury comprising 360 customers rated the services and products by visiting each of the participating commercial districts to choose the winners.

A list of commercial districts receiving certification marks is provided below:
