Mayor Hau Lung-bin met with a delegation comprising representatives from the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Taiwan at city hall on July 15. He praised the organization for being faithful to its principle of giving back to society, working closely with the city government in this area.
Hau pointed out that the members of JCI Taiwan are not only outstanding entrepreneurs; they are also very young businesspeople – with members as young as 30 years old. He jokingly recalled that he was still a student when he reached 30, commenting that the members achieved more than he did at the same age.
The mayor hopes that JCI Taiwan will continue to work closely with city hall. Taking the opportunity, he introduced the visitors to the upcoming 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo. He noted that it will be the largest international event to take place in Taiwan, with exhibitors from 31 nations participating.
With a high demand for volunteer workers, Hau hopes that JCI Taiwan can show their support for the expo – to ensure a success similar to those of the 2009 Summer Deaflymics.
The members of the delegation sought the City’s backing for the bid of hosting the 2012 JCI World Congress in Taipei. The mayor remarked that the City is more than happy to lend its support to international activities that promotes Taipei. He instructed city agencies to provide the necessary assistance to the group.
