City Announces Flora Expo Visual Designs
Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin unveiled the main visual designs for the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition during a press conference on June 8. The two versions of the design – “enthusiasm” and “heartwarming” – will appear on future ads and upcoming lines of the Flora Expo merchandise.
Hau remarked that the design of “enthusiasm” will take center spotlight during the first wave of Flora Expo promotion campaign scheduled for July. Through this publicity campaign, the City seeks to inspire residents’ interest in the exhibition through and to highlight the energy through the symbol in various colors, emphasizing the vitality and open-minded attitude of Taipei and its residents.
As for “heartwarming”, which is reserved for the latter part of the promotion campaign, the mayor pointed out that the design’s detailed lines highlight the elegance and intellectual aspects of the flower show. According to the mayor, the Flora Expo is not only a splendid, large-scale festival; it is also a milestone marking the beginning of a comprehensive environmental protection extending from our homes to the entire planet.
According to city government spokesperson Chao Hsin-ping, the logos are the brainchild of the company that also handled the visual image of the 2009 Summer Deaflympics. Residents will see variations of the symbols appearing on billboards, on street lamppost, and on the sides of city buses. The logos will also appear on Flora Expo souvenirs, including mobile phone shells, eco-friendly shopping bags, CD covers, T-shirts, and more!
