DCA Gives Away 200,000th ‘Happiness+’ Lucky Bag to City Household
The Department of Civic Affairs (DCA) has initiated the “Happiness+ Project: Lucky Bag Delivery Service” since 2007. On May 25, the 200,000th fukubukuro (lucky bag) has been given away, setting a milestone for the service. During the ceremony marking the achievement, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin presented a check with NT$66,000 to the family receiving the 200,000th gift set. He also handed out certificates of gratitude honoring the 136 borough and neighborhood chiefs who help deliver the bags directly to the doorsteps of local households. Hau remarked that 200,000 is an important number, meaning that more than 20 percent of the households in Taipei City have received these lucky bags from DCA. The mayor thanked local chiefs and the staff of DCA for taking the responsibility of delivering these packages. Residents who experiencing the crucial moments of their life – including marriage, birth, divorce, death, and relocation – would receive the bags from DCA. The contents of the bag include souvenirs, a guidebook on living in Taipei, and a greeting card from the mayor.
