With the approval of Taipei City Council granted on May 23, 2007, the former Information Department was officially changed to the "Department of Information and Tourism (DOIT) ".

Announced that the city’s cable service providers would lower the monthly basic broadcast charge from NT$530 to NT$515 for every household. The Department of Social Welfare announced to the city’s registered low-income households that they would be charged a quarter of the City Government-approved monthly basic broadcast charge.

The Department of Information and Tourism of the Taipei City Government launched the Chinese edition of the Taipei Pass, featuring leaflets that highlighted recommendations for backpacking tours and discount information at 32 business establishments.

The Department of Information and Tourism of the Taipei City Government relocated the mainframe of the Taipei Travel Net to GSN DMZ, to support bilateral web link services between the Taipei Travel Net with the official Chinese website in China. The measure helped to promote tourism in Taipei directly among Chinese consumers, and was a pioneering project among all local administrations.

The Department of Information and Tourism of the Taipei City Government set up “Fun Taipei” (http://weibo.com/taipeitravelnet) (Chinese)on Weibo, to market Taipei City’s tourism to Chinese consumers. Taipei again pioneered the country in setting up the project.

The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications hosted “Taiwan’s Top 10 Travel Temptations.” “Fashion Xinyi” and “Small Town Beitou” were chosen as two of the “Travel Temptations.” “Fashion Xinyi” also won the “Bright Spot Community with the Most International Tourism Potential” special award.

2012/06/05The Department of Information and Tourism assisted Junior Chamber International’s Eastern Sea Committee in hosting the 39th “Boat of Youths – the Eastern Sea - Youth Japan Conference,” where 602 participants walking simultaneously on 603 pairs of feet, setting a new Guinness Record.

The Department of Information and Tourism partnered with website service providers in mainland China, allowing Chinese tourists to apply for free Internet services via “Taipei Free” (officially known as Taipei Free Public Wi-Fi Access) prior to their arrival in Taiwan.

The Taipei City Government and App Angry Birds co-hosted the rollout of a new game, “Bad Piggies.” Taipei City was the first city in the world to unveil the game. Advertisements about Bad Piggies and Taipei were shown on the outer wall of the Taipei 101 skyscraper to market Taipei.

The Department of Information and Tourism hosted “the Taipei City Visual Marketing Rollout for Tourism Taipei,” introducing several visual marketing designs representative of Taipei: 1 Tourism Cloud, 5 spokespeople, and 21 Taipei-centric centerpieces. It was the nation’s first effort ever to promote city tourism through brand architecture.

The Visitor Information Centers at Taipei City won the first place in the group category for the “2012 Review and Assessment of Services by the Tourist Service Centers across Taiwan to Upgrade Quality,” organized by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. Visitor Information Centers at the Taipei Main Station and East Metro Mall won the first and second places, respectively, in the individual category.

The Department of Information and Tourism designed and produced print and electronic promotional ads for the 2017 Summer Universiade – to be hosted in Taipei. The ads are played on international cable channels, globally-circulated print media, outdoor electronic media, and on the internet. The ads are now promoting Universiade in cities across Europe, the U.S, and Asia. The promotional event ended on December 31.

The Discovery Center of Taipei renovated its entrance on the first floor. The main wall is now installed with a large-size mesh LED display that plays multilayered images and ground projections to improve service quality.

Attended 2014 Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) for the first time. The Expo attracted 429 professional customers and generated media exposure of 107 news articles. The event ended on February 19.

Conducted “1600 Pandas World Tour – Taipei”. Exhibited 1,600 paper pandas by French artist Paulo Grangeon in Civic Plaza and C.K.S. Memorial Hall Plaza. In addition to the paper pandas, 200 paper-made Formosan black bears were also showcased. The exhibition, ended on March 30, attracted a total of 3.03 millions of visitors.

Published “Yuan Zai & Blackie -- Bears Fun in Taipei” LINE sticker. TCG is the first local government in Taiwan to publish LINE sticker. The sticker, with download end date on April 10 and expiration date on October 11, accumulated over 5.27 million downloads and was sent more than 88.74 million times.

Co-organized “2014 Taipei 101 International Run Up Race” with Taipei Financial Center Corp. Titled “Climbing up, see Taiwan”, the event attracted 5,012 participants.

Co-organized “Fun Taipei – Love Letters” tour projects with private sector. The tour was opened to tourists from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao. Attracted 18,000 independent travellers to visit Taipei.

2014/05/28 Held the first Taipei City Government LINE Official Account ON AIR activity. The activity was opened to residents to discuss about YouBike publicity. About 40,000 participants joined in one hour.

Mayor Hau led a delegation to attend “2014 Hong Kong International Travel Expo”. The Expo totaled 87,608 visitors, 139 news articles, and ended on June 15.

Held “Young Hero, A Square Inch World” in Beitou Plum Garden. The exhibition attracted 186,537 visitors and ended on November 2.

Mayor Hau led a delegation to attend “2014 Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE)”. The Expo totaled 110,000 visitors, 198 news articles, and ended on June 29.

Held “Friendly Tour in Taipei” exhibition at Former Air Force Command Headquarters library. Attracted 58,751 visitors and ended on September 5.

Worked with Taipei Bakery Association to organize “2014 Taipei Pineapple Cake Culture Festival”. The festival attracted 41,669 visitors and ended on July 13.

Attended “2014 Council for Promotion of Tourism in Asia (CPTA)” in Tokyo, Japan. Won the bid for host city of the council in 2015. Trip ended on September 30.

Worked with The Camping Association of the R.O.C. to organize The 17th Asia Pacific Rally FICC at Huazhong Riverside Park camping ground. The event ended on October 13.

Co-organized “2014 Taipei Season of Hot Spring” with Taipei Hot Springs Association. Approximately 105,000 visitors participated and the event ended on October 14.

Organized “TAIPEI Picnic Day” at Taipei Youth Park for the first time. The activity attracted 3,500 participants and generated 18 news articles.

Organized “Friendly Tour in Taipei” Experience project. One of the achievements of the project was to introduce artworks in MRT trains and platform doors. The project ended on January 31, 2015.

Attended the largest travel fair in Taiwan “2014 Taipei International Travel Fair (ITF)”. The fair ended on November 10.

Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government launched “Sky Project”. The project requested companies of cable TV, Fixed Network, power and transportation to re-organize their wires on major roads longer than 15 meters in one year. The ownership of this project was moved to Public Works Department, Taipei City Government on July 1.

Located on third floor of Discovery Center of Taipei, Exhibition Hall has been re-decorated and opened. Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je was invited to attend the opening exhibition; hence to promote the specialty of this new exhibition area.

2015/02/25 Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government hosted “Create Your Own City Style” competition. Nominees would enter the second round Internet Voting from March 25 to April 6.

Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government hosted “The Spirit of Taipei” competition. On May 30, the winner selected by public voting, “Taipei, let me bravely look for myself(臺北,讓我更勇敢地找自己)” was announced.

Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government hosted “Change ING Concert”. The concert was performed by Taipei Symphonic Winds and Taipei Symphony Orchestra Chamber Orchestra. On the site it showed video records of events happened in Taipei City of the first 100 days since Mayor Ko taken the office.

Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government hosted “Taipei Railway Exhibition” until August 2.

Taipei Pictorial was revamped to Small Folio with attached Bessatsu. It showed a simple and clean style. Meanwhile, it introduced Ko’s new policies in first 100 days.

Taipei City Government cooperated with Taipei Financial Center Corporation to host the “2015 Taipei International Run Up Race”. “ Run Beyond the World” was event’s slogan, which represented viewing the World, Taiwan and Taipei from high tower.

The Legislative Yuan passed the amended Motion Picture Act. The regulation of cinemas must play video of government’s policy had been removed by suggestion from Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government.

Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government hosted “2015 Gwangju Universiade Torch Relay” around Taipei City Hall. The Torch Relay was done by Kevin Lin(林義傑), Chun In-Soo(田仁秀), Kuo Hsing-chun(郭婞淳), Lee Hee-joon(李熙俊) and YANG,Chun-Han(楊俊瀚).

Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government cooperated with various departments under Taipei City Government to hosted Taipei Pictorial’s Bessatsu’s “Datong District Regeneration Plan” promotion press conference. Departments also hosted “Zhongzheng-Wanhua Revival Plan” and “East District Gateway Project” on August 29 and October 3, which invited local residents to communicate with City Government.
