Regulations Announced for Gondola ‘Free Ride’ Period

Before resuming operations, the Maokong Gondola will be up for test runs between March 23 and 28. During the six-day trial period, passengers can enjoy free rides on the aerial tram.
Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) reminds visitors who plan to take advantage of this great opportunity to comply with regulations and follow the instructions of station staff.
Passengers can avoid the hassle of waiting in line by taking a number at the gondola station and boarding the gondola at the assigned time (only one number slip per individual). The number counter will open at 8:30AM each day during the test runs.
According to TRTC, free rides will be available for 10,000 passengers each day from March 23 through 28. During this period, the gondola will be open from 9AM until 5PM.
With a limit of eight individuals per car, passengers should follow the instructions of staff members when taking the tram to ensure safety on the boarding deck. People with cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, acrophobia, or feeling unwell are advised not to travel on the gondola. Service attendants on the deck will assist individuals in wheelchair when boarding and disembarking. Passengers will be fined for smoking, eating/drinking (with the exception of tap water and bottled water), chewing gum/betel nut, and throwing objects out of the car window.
